Forget resolutions. In 3-4 months, they fall through the cracks of your schedule like alfredo sauce through a colander. Especially fitness or wellness resolutions. You've sworn to get rid of your mid-torso tire year after year...after year...after year (you get my point) without results. You know what they call that, don't you? Insanity.
So let's bale on the resolutions in 2012. Instead DECIDE to change ONE thing in January. It could be something as simple as taking the stairs wherever you go instead of the elevator or the escalator (to burn fat and give your heart, lungs, and quads a mini-workout). It could be drinking a 16 oz glass of water every morning when you first wake up (to rehydrate after 7+ hours in la-la land) . It could be using 1 tsp of butter on your breakfast toast instead of two (to reduce cholestrol intake and minimize the chance of danish pastry hips).
Just get through January doing that one thing EVERY DAY. And then in February you can add another small thing (floss your teeth daily, take a multivitamin, don't kick your dog--oh, did I say that?). By the end of the year, you will have significantly changed 12 areas of your life because you took 30 days to make them a habit.
Remember--start small. A great fire is begun by a small spark. Burn, baby, burn.
